SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Kleinfelder Group, Inc., a leading engineering, construction management, design, and environmental professional services firm, announced today that it has completed an asset purchase agreement with Advantage Engineers to acquire their geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and construction observation and materials testing (CoMET) services division. The transaction closed on December 10, 2019.
“The Advantage Engineers transaction brings additional capabilities to our Mid-Atlantic business and perfectly complements Kleinfelder’s operations as a whole,” said Kleinfelder’s President and CEO, Louis Armstrong. “We now have a strong CoMET practice that seamlessly integrates with our existing geotechnical and environmental practices in the region. This additional expertise can be leveraged to deliver added value to existing clients, as well as create opportunities with new clients that will fuel growth,” Armstrong continued.
The acquired operations are successfully positioned in the Industrial Distribution & Logistics and Commercial Development markets. Within the Mid-Atlantic states, these will be new markets for Kleinfelder and will help the company expand business regionally. In addition, since many existing clients for Advantage Engineers have a national footprint, the combined organization will now be able to serve these clients throughout the U.S. With the transaction, Kleinfelder is adding new office locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland.
“I am excited to join Kleinfelder,” said Dan Schauble, formerly Advantage Engineers’ Geo-Environmental Division President. “Kleinfelder’s technical capabilities and national footprint will enhance and advance the exceptional geotechnical, environmental, and CoMET consulting services Advantage Engineers has provided for the last two decades.”
Alignment with Strategic Plan
The addition of Advantage Engineers is Kleinfelder’s first acquisitive activity since 2014, as well as the first since Wind Point Partners’ investment in Kleinfelder in November 2018. Led by President and CEO Louis Armstrong, Kleinfelder’s strategic plan anticipates continued significant growth, both through acquisition and organic development, as we provide solutions that improve our clients’ transportation, water, energy, and other private infrastructure.
