Moore & Van Allen PLLC (MVA) is pleased to announce that it has advised Charlotte-based ButcherJoseph Financial Holdings, LLC, in its acquisition of Laffer Investments, Inc., an SEC Registered Investment Advisor based in Nashville, Tennessee. MVA Member Michael (Mike) E. Zeller and Associate Michael C. Tarwater, Jr. led the MVA team representing ButcherJoseph in the transaction. The acquisition was announced on November 1.
“Laffer Investments was a perfect fit to join the ButcherJoseph family of companies,” said ButcherJoseph Financial Holdings CEO Jon Curley.
The Laffer firm currently provides investment management advice to individuals and portfolio management services to institutions totaling almost $600 million. It will be renamed LAFFER | TENGLER INVESTMENTS once all necessary filings are complete. LAFFER | TENGLER INVESTMENTS will have six investment professionals with more than 200 combined years of investment industry experience among a total staff of 14. The firm will manage proprietary strategies covering a broad range of asset classes and styles from traditional U.S. equities and fixed income to convertible securities and exchange traded fund models. Offices of the firm will be in Charlotte, Nashville and Phoenix.
Curley will be CEO of the firm. Arthur B. Laffer, Jr. will remain with the firm as COO and portfolio manager. Nancy Tengler will take over as CIO and as portfolio manager. Dr. Arthur B. Laffer will be Chairman of the Advisory Board and a strategic advisor to the firm.
