Charlotte-based Wastequip has signed an agreement to acquire Armrep, a refuse waste company operating out of Ontario, Canada, for an undisclosed amount.
The deal is not expected to result in any job losses at either company.
Armrep is a nationwide manufacturer of waste-management equipment and heavy machinery, with a local office in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Under the terms of the agreement, day-to-day operations for the Canadian company will remain unaffected by the deal, as the existing leadership team will report directly to Marty Bryant, CEO of Wastequip.
With the acquisition of Armrep and its technologies, Wastequip will have realized its goal of offering the full array of waste management tools and services to its customers.
Included as part of the deal are Armrep’s garbage trucks, equipped with front loading and automatic side loading hoists. These tools make for a more effective and efficient curbside experience as garbage crews will easier access to tighter urban areas.
In addition, Armrep will provide new technologies such as automation via on-board routing and diagnostics for Wastequip’s vehicles. The company’s parts customers will also benefit from a broadened product range as per their agreement.
“Adding garbage trucks to our product mix is a key step in the evolution of Wastequip as a true partner for haulers and municipalities by serving as a one-stop-shop for all waste industry equipment needs,” said Bryant in a statement.
Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Charlotte, Wastequip manufactures waste handling and recycling equipment in North America. Specializing in steel compactors and waste bins, the company employs over 2000 employees with 33 facilities nationwide.
The company’s other brands include Wastequip, Toter, Galbreath, Pioneer, Mountain Tarp, Cusco, Go To Parts, and Accurate.
