NCI Building Systems Inc., a Cary-based housing products company, announced Thursday that it will acquire Environmental Stoneworks for $186 million.

Environmental Stoneworks CEO Chuck Stein will serve as president of the company’s combined stone businesses when the deal closes.

The purchase will be financed through cash and borrowings and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019.

“The transaction directly supports NCI’s industrial logic and value proposition adding to our already strong residential, repair and remodel and commercial platform,” said NCI CEO James S. Metcalf in a statement.

Environmental Stoneworks is the only stone veneer manufacturer in the United States, according to its website. The company currently has 660 U.S. employees across five manufacturing facilities and 21 installation centers.

It generated $160 million in revenues during fiscal 2017.

NCI is one of the largest metal product manufacturers for the non-residential construction industry in North America. It merged with Ply Gem LLC in July last year and has more than 20,000 employees across 80 locations throughout North America.

The company closed at $7.53 per share on Thursday, down 1.95 percent.
