Red Hat Inc., is acquiring cloud data management provider NooBaa for an undisclosed amount.
Raleigh-based Red Hat is a multinational software company that provides open-source software. Through acquiring NooBaa, the company hopes to pair NooBaa data management technology and Red Hat’s existing hybrid cloud portfolio.
“Data portability is a key imperative for organizations building and deploying cloud-native applications across private and multiple clouds,” said Ranga Rangachari, vice president and general manager, storage and hyperconverged infrastructure, for Red Hat. “NooBaa’s technologies will augment our portfolio and strengthen our ability to meet the needs of developers in today’s hybrid and multicloud world.”
By 2020, “75 percent of organizations will have deployed a multicloud or hybrid cloud model,” according to industry analyst firm Gartner. As this industry progresses, it can become more difficult to manage cloud applications.
Israel-based NooBaa was founded in 2013, and the company created a new platform to gain better control and transparency over these applications and the spread of data.
Now under Red Hat, the companies hope to use combined technologies to provide powerful and consistent capabilities for managing technology resources.
This announcement comes just a month after Red Hat announced it was being acquired by the computer manufacturing company IBM, with goals of increasing both the scale and resources for the company.
Red Hat closed at $178.05 Wednesday, up $1.32, or .75 percent.
