Five urgent care facilities in Wilmington have been acquired by Tennessee-based Urgent Care Group for an undisclosed amount.

The five facilities belong to Medac Urgent Care, whose urgent care centers have provided health services to patients with busy schedules since 1984.

Urgent Care Group also recently bought South-Carolina based Medcare Urgent Care. With the addition of Medac’s five urgent care centers, Urgent Care Group now owns and operates 13 facilities.

Medac CEO J. Dale Key said it is eager to continue being a trusted health services provider with Urgent Care Group’s help.

“As we were evaluating the next steps for Medac, we were pleased to find the team at Urgent Care Group eager to continue Medac’s role as the trusted leader in urgent care and occupational health services in southeastern North Carolina,” Key said in a statement.

Urgent Care group is an urgent care company based in Nashville, Tennessee, that focuses on markets with growing populations that utilize health services.

Urgent Care Group’s founder Mark Maloney said they acquired Medac because its principles aligned well.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Medac as a member of the Urgent Care Group network and collectively work towards providing care to the Wilmington community,” Maloney said in a statement.
