Eli Global Acquires German-based Finanzen

Eli Global, a company that owns over 100 businesses around the world, has agreed to purchase Finanzen Group, a German company that operates a marketplace for insurance and finance customers, for an undisclosed amount, according to Business Wire.

Founded in 1991, Durham-based Eli Global owns businesses that operate in over 15 different sectors the technology, healthcare, insurance and financial services industries in over 18 countries. The privately held company employs more than 7,500 people.

The Berlin-based Finanzen Group is a business to business digital marketplace for insurance and finance customers, providing over 1 million leads annually to over 6,000 insurance brokers and financial consultants.

The company also acts an online broker for select insurance products. Finanzen is the first company in Eli Global’s insurance portfolio.

Finanzen is also Eli Global’s first German acquisition after opening its Munich branch in September of last year.

“Our plan is to substantially grow this portfolio and the companies within it,” said George Luecke, global manager of the new insurance portfolio and co-chief executive officer of Global Bankers Insurance Group, Eli Global’s life and annuity carrier division.

“We are in the process of making key hires to accelerate the build out.”

Pending regulatory approval from the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department, the deal is expected to close later this year.

Greg Lindberg, founder and chairman of Eli Global, founded the company while still in college. Lindberg graduated from Yale University in 1993 with a degree in economics.
