Katten announced today that Trisha Sircar joined the New York office as an Intellectual Property partner in the firm’s Privacy, Data and Cybersecurity practice.

“Trisha comes to Katten with vast experience in addressing privacy and data security risks and a keen understanding of privacy laws and regulations as well as emerging cybersecurity threats,” said Karen Artz Ash, national co-chair of the Intellectual Property practice. “Our clients will benefit from her guidance on best practices for privacy and data protection compliance.”

Prior to joining Katten, Sircar held the position of counsel and compliance officer of Global Privacy and Compliance atone of the world’s largest insurance companies in New York where she worked for several years. In her senior position, she was responsible for assisting in the implementation of the company’s privacy compliance program and its records and information management program. She reviewed technology, analytics and innovation projects to ensure compliance with privacy, data security and records management requirements and coordinated responses to information security and privacy-related incidents.

In her role of senior underwriter, Sircar managed a portfolio of cyber, media, technology and miscellaneous liability risk for companies with revenues of $1 billion or more. As senior claims analyst and counsel, she advised on coverage obligations, litigation strategy and resolution of claims involving Fortune 500 companies, not-for-profits and small businesses.

“Having worked with Trisha previously on various claims, we value her insight and counsel in the rapidly changing privacy law industry,” said Floyd A. Mandell, national co-chair of Katten’s Intellectual Property practice. “Trisha’s arrival strengthens our capacity to continue handling our clients’ pressing day-to-day privacy concerns and growing needs in that area.”

Sircar is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (US) (CIPP-US), a credential by the International Association of Privacy Professionals regarded as a key industry benchmark.

“Data breaches and responses to those incidents are top business concerns, and Trisha’s experience and proven abilities in addressing these issues will help our clients make strategic decisions that minimize risks,” said Doron S.
