Attorney Christopher J. Stevens Joins Deuterman Law Group

3/26/18

The Deuterman Law Group, with two offices in the Triad, has hired associate attorney Christopher J. Stevens to work in its Winston-Salem office.

The Deuterman Law Group handles a range of injury cases, including workers’ compensation; Social Security disability; veterans disability benefits; automobile, motorcycle and truck accidents; catastrophic injury; and wrongful death claims.

Stevens earned his juris doctor from the UNC School of Law. He graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor of science in business administration, double majoring in economics and marketing.

While in law school, Stevens completed 137 hours of pro bono work, volunteering his legal expertise to help people.

He was a volunteer researcher for Organize Against Racism – The Campaign for Racial Equity in Our Schools. Specifically, he contributed to a report that examined racial inequality in the local school system and provided recommendations to the school board on how to make improvements.

In law school, Stevens had internships with the N.C. Justice Center and the UNC Center for Civil Rights, and he also interned with the UNC School of Law Civil Legal Assistance Clinic. Those internships provided him with hands-on experience working directly with clients in landlord-tenant disputes and civil rights claims. He also had the opportunity to work on cases involving constitutional claims related to university admissions policies and DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).

At UNC, Stevens won the Eugene Gressman & Daniel H. Pollitt Appellate Advocacy Award for Best Appellant Argument. He was a competing member of the Holderness Moot Court Corporate Team.

As a college student in Boone, Stevens served on the Watauga County Soil and Water Conservation District Board.
