Womble Carlyle has strengthened its business litigation practice in Raleigh with the addition of experienced litigation attorney Jonathon Townsend.

Townsend spent the past four years practicing business litigation law in California, most of which time he was an associate at the Sullivan & Cromwell firm. There, he represented clients in cases involving alleged breaches of fiduciary duty, contractual disputes, patent infringement and federal securities law violations. His clients included companies in the wireless communications, financial services, energy, real estate development and communications industry. Townsend also has experience in international arbitration.

Before going into private practice, Townsend served as a judicial extern from U.S. District Court Judge Dolly Gee in the Central District of California.

Townsend is a native of New Bern, North Carolina, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and the UCLA School of Law.
