Smith Anderson Partner Josh Bryant was recently named chair of the Tax Section of the North Carolina Bar Association at its annual meeting. Josh has been a member of the Tax Section Council since 2006 and will assume the chairmanship in July.
The Tax Section focuses on state and local tax issues, offering programs that engage in tax policy, tax legislative projects and tax pro bono projects. The Section meets periodically with the North Carolina Department of Revenue and Internal Revenue Service representatives to improve project initiatives.
During his tenure on the Tax Section Council, Josh has served in various capacities, including vice-chair, treasurer, secretary, CLE committee chair, and newsletter committee chair. Josh is also a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Josh’s principal practice areas include tax, mergers and acquisitions, closely-held businesses, and private equity. Josh has experience in tax law, representing clients in matters involving federal, state and local taxation, and in business transactions with tax implications.
