Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club and JB Duke Hotel, two luxury hotels in Durham, announced permanent layoffs of 218 workers due to the impacts of COVID-19.
The North Carolina Department of Commerce received the notice of the permanent layoffs from Washington Duke Inn and JB Duke Hotel per the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, a law requiring employers to provide 60-day advance notice of closings or mass layoffs.
Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club will lay off 147 workers, and JB Duke Hotel will lay off 71 workers, the filing shows.
