RiverWest, a 600,000 s.f. industrial site is under construction in Belmont

Gaston County will soon see an influx of industrial development along the I-85 corridor in the Charlotte metro area. Charlotte Developer Tribek Properties broke ground on their RiverWest development in early September, and is the first speculative project underway in the County.

“We’ve seen unprecedented demand for industrial product in close proximity to the I-85 corridor and RiverWest is the first of the speculative projects to have a shovel in the ground,” Donny Hicks, Economic Development Official in Gaston County said. “The project’s close proximity to Charlotte makes it that much more appealing to end users.” The site is 10 minutes from the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and minutes to the I-85 and I-485 interchange.

“We understand the growing importance of the I-85 corridor and we’ve had this land site under contract since 2018 in anticipation of this project,” said Scott Bortz, Principal at Tribek Properties. We chose the name RiverWest because we’re just over the river, west of Charlotte.” With growing demand for industrial use, there is limited development opportunity in Mecklenburg County.

The 600,000 square foot development will consist of two separate buildings. “Another exciting feature of this project is that it offers two diverse buildings with rear load and cross dock layout which will enable us to pursue tenants ranging in size from 40,000 to 400,000 square feet,” stated Brad Cherry, Managing Director of Industrial Brokerage at JLL.
