Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. said it’s encouraging its regular full-time employees to utilize paid time off through its volunteerism program to serve as poll workers this election.

Tanger announced Friday the company is teaming up with the Civic Alliance, a non-partisan coalition of businesses encouraging civic engagement amongst its employees and customers, to take part in Power the Polls, an initiative to address the nationwide poll worker shortage.

“At Tanger, we believe our democracy works best when we all participate. We value civic engagement, especially exercising the right to vote, which is why we have taken a number of steps to help our employees and customers navigate this election season,” Stephen Yalof, chief operating officer and president, said in the release.

The partnership is part of the company’s recent efforts to support civic engagement. Tanger began a partnership last month with HeadCount, a non-profit organization promoting voter registration amongst young people.

Tanger Factory Outlets Centers, Inc. is a publicly-trade REIT that operates 38 outlet shopping centers across 20 states and in Canada.

Shares of Tanger Factory Outlets (SKT) were trading at $6.73 Friday, up down 5 cents, or 0.74 percent.
