ChannelAdvisor Corporation, an e-commerce cloud platform, released a study of more than 1,000 consumers that showed a significant shift toward online shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Approximately 52 percent of those surveyed said they expect to shop more online now than before the pandemic. In April, that figure was 38 percent.

Approximately 60 percent of consumers said they’re shopping online “more frequently” compared to early March. In April, 46 percent indicated they’re shopping more often than before the pandemic.

What’s more, the percentage of consumers who expect to shop online for groceries moved from 26 percent in April to 52 percent in August.

The survey results also give insight into a much different holiday shopping season. Nearly 60 percent of consumers said they would be starting their online shopping early before Nov. 1 due to expected delays from the pandemic. What’s more, 78 percent of the respondents say they are willing to wait for longer shipping times during the holiday season.

The study, conducted by Dynata, surveyed more than 1,000 consumers before Aug. 24 across all age groups and genders.

Shares of ChannelAdvisor (ECOM) were last trading up 50 cents near $14.47.
