The Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC), an initiative of business, government, academic and nonprofit leaders focused on accelerating the growth of the statewide and regional cleantech economy, has opened applications for the second Annual 2020 Cleantech Innovation Awards. Entries will be accepted through October 7th. The virtual awards ceremony and RTCC annual meeting will be held on December 9th.
The RTCC Cleantech Innovation Awards recognizes the people and initiatives driving NC cleantech solutions across industries, including manufacturing, renewables, local governments, state agencies, and engineering firms, among others. The cleantech and energy sectors play a significant role within communities and their local economies. These innovative solutions provide North Carolinians with a range of new, viable options, including waste reduction and the ability to charge low-emission devices at home or at work. Applications for the second annual awards will likely mirror the current trend towards decarbonization, reducing energy consumption, and diverse opportunities for workforce development.
North Carolina is nationally ranked #2 in solar energy, has a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem, consistently attracts top talent from Tier One NC universities, and continues to experience strong population growth statewide.
The awards celebrate a range of creative solutions from water technologies to renewables and new transportation models, among others. Cleantech innovation in NC is driving new global solutions for nearly every industry. “North Carolina cleantech companies are helping to solve the world’s energy and environmental challenges,” said Susan Sanford, executive director of the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC). “Decarbonization initiatives continue to spur new technologies from large and small NC companies and we expect to see applications with new ideas across the cleantech spectrum.” This year, RTCC will acknowledge the strong ecosystem for disruptive thinking across the region and state with the launch of the Cleantech Entrepreneur Award.
The awards will again be judged by executives from the cleantech industry and public sectors.
The award applications are now open and feature the following nine (9) categories:
- Cleantech Entrepreneur Award
