Advance Auto Parts Expands Board

Advance Auto Parts, Inc. increased its board’s size from nine to 11 with the appointment of two new directors, the auto parts retailer said in an 8-K regulatory filing and an accompanying press release on Thursday.

The company announced the appointments of Carla J. Bailo, president and CEO of The Center for Automotive Research, and Arthur L. Valdez Jr., the Chief Supply Chain & Logistics Officer for Target, effective Aug. 11.

Bailo, 59, has spent more than 35 years in the auto industry, beginning her career at General Motors as an engineer and holding several leadership roles at Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. In 2017, she joined the Center for Automotive Research, a nonprofit research organization. Bailo has also served as CEO of ECOS Consulting LLC, an energy efficiency solutions provider, since 2014.

Valdez, 50, began his career with Walmart and then spent 17 years at Amazon.com, where he held leadership roles across operations, international expansion, and worldwide transportation. He joined Target in 2016, where he currently looks after the retailer’s global supply chain and logistics network.

“Advance is extremely focused on meeting the evolving needs of our Customers. This includes understanding future innovation and technology developments within the automotive sector as we build world class omnichannel and supply chain capabilities. Carla and Arthur’s vast experience in these areas will be extremely helpful as the company moves its business forward,” board chair Eugene I. Lee, Jr. said in a statement.

Shares of Advance Auto Parts (AAP) were up $2.13, or 1.38 percent, trading at $156.41 on Thursday afternoon.
