Cleantech Community Pivots To Provide Solutions For Safe “Return-To-Work” Programs As Economy Re-Opens

7/7/20

Three members of the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC), the industry-led consortium for cleantech in North Carolina, have developed technology solutions to help NC businesses and schools safely re-open amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The cleantech industry is comprised of companies solving the world’s most critical problems,” said Susan Sanford, executive director at RTCC. “It’s inspiring, but not surprising, to see leadership in the community apply their solutions to help businesses, schools, and first-response teams safely operate and re-open with innovative testing, certification, and PPE solutions.”

Hoboken to Open Antibody Tests to Residents Using Power Analytics Solution

Power Analytics Global (Raleigh) has expanded their next-generation data-simulation and modeling platform to address the response to the pandemic. Teaming with Inspire Health Alliance in a strategic partnership, Power Analytics will deploy a new COVID-19 antibody point-of-care test that delivers results in less than 10 minutes using a real-time, secure, data-certification system. This strategic partnership provides healthcare professionals, emergency responders, patients, as well as employers and employees, with the ability to implement COVID-19 testing programs that enable them to have an accelerated, cost-effective, and secure workforce re-entry procedure.

The city of Hoboken, New Jersey piloted the Power Analytics solution in early May to test 250 first responders and front-line workers on-site for employment re-entry. The city has since expanded that project to enable testing for all Hoboken residents, as well as residents of Weehawken, Union City, and the city of West New York, resulting in more than 5,000 tests performed in June. The company has also been testing teams from the NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLS, NWSL, and NFL.

Power Analytics Global, along with partner Radeas Labs in Wake Forest, NC, is now offering polymerise chain reaction (PCR) testing with results in 24 hours. Testing is now underway with three new contracts in North Carolina, with a primary focus in the Triangle on testing for the business community to help get North Carolinians safely back to work. Field2Base Provides Mobile Boarding Pass to Help Schools and Employers Re-Open

Field2Base, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company that implements cloud-based digital form templates and mobile apps to replace manual data collection, has partnered with the engineering & construction company Black & Veatch to launch COVOPERATE, a mobile “boarding pass” workforce management application designed to help schools, governments, and employers safely and productively implement return to work programs. COVOPERATE is a flexible, scalable cloud-based application that tracks and manages critical health data in a secure, HIPPA-compliant platform that combines a series of screening questions with on-site physical temperature checks and other safety protocols to generate an easily-trackable “boarding pass” certification to evaluate an individual’s return-to-work status, and maintain the data in a secure platform. EPA Transfers Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to FEMA

The Environmental Protection Agency announced that their Office of Research & Development is transferring more than 22,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) items, including gloves, respirators, protective suits, booties, and lab coats from several locations, including the Research Triangle Park office to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in support of the front-line responders during the COVID-19 pandemic. The EPA maintains a range of personal protective equipment as part of the agency’s laboratory, inspection, and emergency response functions, and was able to identify surplus PPE supplies for transfer to FEMA for COVID-19 operations. For more information about the EPA’s COVID-19 response, please visit their website: www.epa.gov/coronavirus.

“RTCC is proud to partner with our member companies as they contribute their unique solutions to help respond to the COVID-10 pandemic,” Sanford added.
