Although great strides have been made towards gender equality in the workplace, women still earn 82 cents for every dollar a man makes. In some cities, however, there are more women who have a college degree, earn higher salaries and start their own businesses.
To find the cities where women are most successful, SmartAsset’s third annual study compared the 200 most-populous U.S. cities across six metrics related to education, earnings, entrepreneurship and housing affordability for women.
Out of the 200 most-populous U.S. cities, Cary ranks in the top spot, Durham in the ninth spot and Raleigh ranks 24th in SmartAsset’s study on where women are most successful. All three cities crack the top 30 for their percentage of women with a bachelor’s degree, at more than 50%.
