Camp North End Continues Leasing Spree with New Offering from Raydal Hospitality

La Caseta, new concept from group behind Sabor Latin Grill, joins Bow Ramen and Bleu Barn Bistro on Keswick Avenue

ATCO Properties & Management, an owner and operator of high-quality office, residential and mixed-use properties across the U.S., and developer of Camp North End in partnership with Shorenstein Properties LLC, announced today that it has finalized a lease for La Caseta, a new food stall concept from Raydal Hospitality, the owners of Sabor Latin Street Grill and Three Amigos Mexican Cantina & Grill.

This latest deal accelerates strong leasing momentum at the location, as it follows the previous announcement of two additional food stalls, Bow Ramen and Bleu Barn Bistro. All three food and beverage retailers are expected to open early next month on Keswick Avenue, the street that cuts through the Gama Goat Building.

Celebrating the flavors and favorites of El Salvador, Mexico, Venezuela and Argentina, La Caseta was inspired by the diverse staff of Raydal Hospitality and their collective family traditions. The food and menu are being developed by Telma Moran, the mother of Raydal Hospitality’s director of community engagement Miriam Espaillat, who has owned a bodega in Queens, New York since 1997 and Alejandra De la Cruz, head chef at Three Amigos. Menu items will include everything from Salvadorian pupusas and arepas to handmade taco tortillas.

The 384 square foot walk-up stall will be made from reclaimed materials sourced from the Gama Goat building during its renovation. The outdoor stalls share an open-air seating area accommodated with shade, seasonal heaters, and regular disinfecting during operating hours. Seating arrangements have been reduced and spaced in accordance with North Carolina’s phased re-opening requirements, allowing ample room to enjoy al fresco dining.

“The passionate team of people behind La Caseta embodies the resilience of Charlotte’s culinary community, and we are proud to welcome them to our Camp North End family,” said Damon Hemmerdinger, co-president of ATCO Properties & Management, developer of Camp North End. “Open-air outdoor dining will be critical to the successful return of restaurants post-COVID-19, and this move is a key example of our efforts over the last several years to proactively design our environment with community health and wellness in mind.”

“La Caseta will serve items that our customers have long requested -- like pupusas and handmade tortillas,” says Dalton Espaillat, CEO of Raydal Hospitality. “Because of the size and complexity of the operation at Sabor, we have a hard time making those things happen consistently without compromising quality. La Caseta, with its relatively small menu and kitchen size, is a perfect place to make the food we make at home on the weekends.”

With this new lease, Camp North End will host nine food & beverage establishments located throughout the one-million-square-foot complex. In addition to Bow Ramen and Bleu Barn Bistro, its other notable culinary tenants include James Beard award semifinalist chef Greg Collier’s new restaurant concept, Leah & Louise, James Beard award nominee chef Samantha Allen’s gourmet bakery Wentworth and Fenn, taproom Free Range Brewing, loose-leaf tea bar Birch Fine Tea, healthy food purveyor Chop & Chisel, Noda Company Canteen, and coffee bar Hex Coffee Roasters.

Camp North End is also leading the way in terms of healthy building design. In January 2020, the development was one of four trailblazing developments in North America to receive the first Fitwel Community Certification from the Center for Active Design (CfAD), a national building standard that focuses on optimizing holistic health benefits in neighborhood-scale projects.

Evelyn Adelman with Ascent represented the landlord in the lease transaction. The tenant was represented by Charlie Baker of Chatham Properties. A Cushman & Wakefield team led by Jessica Brown, David Dorsch and Grant Keyes are the exclusive leasing agents for the office component of the property.

About Camp North End

Currently, developer ATCO Properties & Management is undertaking the redevelopment of the Gama Goat Building at 1701 N. Graham Street, and has already renovated and leased 70,000 square feet in buildings facing The Boileryard and The Mount, two of the project’s districts.
