A grand opening event is set for Friday, February 28th from 7 to 9 p.m.

Book lovers, rejoice: ATCO Properties & Management announced today that Charlotte-based bookstagrammer Alyssa Pressler, the Director of Marketing at Hygge Coworking and operator of the @readinginclt Instagram page, is opening a used bookstore called That’s Novel Books at Camp North End this winter.

The store, which will be located inside Hygge Coworking’s space at 330 Camp Road, in Camp North End’s Mount district, will allow visitors to buy and trade their used books. The 800 square-foot book shop will feature places to work and cozy seating spots to hold small book clubs or catch up with friends. A grand opening event is set for Friday, February 28th from 7 to 9 p.m.

“The goal of That's Novel Books is to provide a space for lovers of books to come and just be around other people who love books,” Pressler said, who posted a video on social media announcing the new store, which can be viewed here. “I want people to grab a book off the shelf and hang for a few hours while they decide if that's the book for them.”

“Just as we said when originally moved in, Hygge and Camp North End are all about repurposing space in a way that brings value to the community,” said Garrett Tichy, Founder and Owner of Hygge Coworking. “That’s Novel Books is a great way to have part of Hygge be public facing, and it’s a great opportunity for Alyssa to run her own business. Her passion for books is infectious and I’m proud to support her as she pursues a lifelong dream.”

“That’s Novel Books is a perfect example of the types of retailers we support at Camp North End: independent, community-minded, and focused on providing a memorable experience,” said Tommy Mann, Development Director at Camp North End. “Given their goal of creating connections in a unique environment, it is a natural fit for the project and a welcome addition to our growing Camp Fam.”

The opening of That’s Novel Books is the latest in a string of new leases and major developments at Camp North End this year. Last week, the project officially received Fitwel Community Certificationfrom the Center for Active Design (CfAD), a national building standardthat focuses on optimizing holistic health benefits in neighborhood-scale projects. In addition, software-as-a-service company CloudGenera finalized an agreement to move its corporate headquarters from Uptown Charlotte to the site this spring, and boutique fitness concept bloc. will relocate from Dilworth to 1701 N. Graham Street next month. ATCO will also welcome five new food and beverage tenants to the site in March, including James Beard-nominated chef Greg Collier’s new restaurant, Leah & Louise; taproom Free Range Brewing; gourmet bakery Wentworth & Fenn; Nagahama-style noodle shop Bow Ramen; and farm-to-table purveyor Bleu Barn Bistro.

In addition to That’s Novel Books, other major tenants at Camp North End include Ally Bank innovation team TM Studio; nonprofit Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas (JACC); arts organization Goodyear Arts; coffee company Hex Coffee Roasters; design consulting firm Wily; interactive gallery and creative studio space Blk Mrkt; boutique hair salon eXplicit Salon; creative studio and art gallery DUPP&SWAT; contemporary art + home décor designer Windy O’Connor; and custom motorcycle parts company Prism Supply.
