The Fresh Market plans to expand its headquarters in Greensboro, investing $5.4 million and creating 53 new jobs.
Governor Roy Cooper announced the expansion in a statement on the North Carolina Department of Commerce website on Monday. The average wage of the new jobs will be $70,113, exceeding the average of $47,955 in Guilford County.
“We are thrilled to be able to make a long-term commitment to staying in this community and be able to build on our vision,” said CEO Larry Appel. “We are excited to be able to unite all of our headquarters team members in one building and provide them with as welcoming a place to work as it is for our guests to shop in our stores.”
One North Carolina Fund, who provides financial assistance to local government to attract economic investment, is providing a performance-based grant of $500,000 to help facilitate The Fresh Market’s expansion.
The Fresh Market is a specialty food retailer founded in Greensboro in 1982 and operates 176 stores in 24 different states with 21 stores in North Carolina.
