Premier Inc. announced the formation of new company, Contigo Health, in a press release Tuesday.

Contigo Health is a “network of health systems collaborating with employers and their health plans,” the company said. Contigo Health will offer the Contigo Health Clinical Advantage program for employers and Contigo Health Network program for health systems, which will suggest relevant resources to clinicians during patient care.

“It’s imperative that healthcare providers lead the care decision-making process, and therefore they need closer relationships with the employers funding care,” said Michael Alkire, president of Premier.

Jonathan Slotkin will serve as Contigo Health’s chief medical officer to lead its clinical innovation, strategy and operations, according to the company.

Thirty-five health systems have signed letters of intent to participate in the Contigo Health network.

Premier Inc. provides healthcare services including consultation, clinical and financial database and health insurance. Its shares closed at $36.38 on Wednesday afternoon, up 2 cents.
