Capitala Group, a Charlotte asset management firm, appointed Kevin Koonts as its chief compliance officer and secretary for Capitala Finance Corp in a press release Tuesday.

Koonts will take on the roles in addition to serving in his previous duties as chief accounting officer and treasurer. The change was effective Oct. 8.

Koonts has been with Capitala since 2013 when he served as controller for the company. Prior to joining Capitala, Koonts was an audit manager at Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP.

Capitala is a $3 billion asset management firm that provides capital to lower middle market companies. Capitala Finance Corp. is a business development company that invests in lien loans and subordinated debt.

Shares of Capitala Finance Corp. were trading at $8.98 Thursday, up 8 cents.
