Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Don Esposito has joined the firm as a partner in its Raleigh office. Don brings more than a decade of experience as the top legal officer for billion-dollar health care systems in North Carolina.

Don advises nonprofit and for-profit hospitals and health care systems on the full scope of their legal needs. He has helped drive the growth of health care systems, including overseeing and coordinating the legal aspects of a $1.5 billion transaction between Mission Health and HCA Healthcare. He has also steered in-house teams through complex compliance issues and resolved a broad variety of disputes, including with insurers and government agencies. He brings a creative approach to his clients’ needs, having assisted in the formation of a venture capital fund to foster innovation within a system, as well as the creation of the largest per capita health care foundation in the United States.

Prior to joining Parker Poe, Don served as general counsel for Mission Health, which encompassed hospitals and other operations throughout an 18-county region in western North Carolina. He has also served as general counsel of UNC REX Healthcare, which included hospitals and other operations in Wake County and the surrounding region. Earlier in his career, Don served as an assistant attorney general for the North Carolina Department of Justice. He earned his law degree from Harvard and his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.

He joins the firm’s Health Care Industry Team, which takes a big-picture approach to the challenges and opportunities hospitals and other providers face. The team features a deep bench of attorneys who focus exclusively on health care. It also brings together attorneys across other practice areas to provide the full scope of legal solutions that health care clients need.
