Grocery store company Food Lion announced today it is expanding the availability of its “Food Lion To-Go” pickup service to an additional 50 stores.

The online service will be available beginning Oct. 14 at newly designated locations in Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

With the addition of the service to the 50 new locations, Food Lion To-Go will now be available at a total of 200 Food Lion stores across six states.

Deborah Sabo, senior vice president of marketing, said the company is excited to expand the service which allows customers to spend more time outside the store.

“With the Food Lion To-Go service, our associates become personal shoppers and are able to hand pick the freshest produce and best cuts of meat, just as they would for their own family,” Sabo said.

The service allows shoppers to purchase items online and pickup them up curbside at a designated time. Food Lion is offering a free first pickup at the new locations.

Food Lion is a subsidiary of Dutch-Belgian retail company Ahold Delhaize, and has more than 1,000 locations across 10 states.

Shares of Ahold Delhaize closed at $22.48 Thursday, up 24 cents.
