Duke Energy Renewables, a commercial business unit of Duke Energy, announced Friday that it has signed a 15-year, 160-megawatt agreement with AT&T for Frontier Windpower II in Oklahoma.

Frontier II will be Duke’s largest wind power project at 350 megawatts when completed. The project expands on the first Frontier Windpower project which became operational in 2016. The two projects combined will generate a total of 550 megawatts of wind power when complete, enough to power about 193,000 homes.

Duke Energy announced Tuesday that it aims to have net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. AT&T announced separately today that its renewable energy purchases will surpass 1.5 gigawatts this year.

“Last year we said we were going big on renewable energy, and our virtual power purchase agreement with Duke Energy Renewables reiterates our continued dedication to doing just that,” said Joe Taylor, vice president of global infrastructure optimization and implementation, AT&T.

Shares of Duke Energy closed at $95.23 Friday afternoon, up 74 cents.
