Waste Industries, Inc., a waste and recycling collection company headquartered in Raleigh, announced delays in service due to Hurricane Dorian.
Greenville, Elizabeth City and Wilmington are among the eight areas in North Carolina named by the company that will experience delayed or canceled services.
Waste Industries plans to operate normally in some areas through Thursday, while other counties will not receive service Thursday or Friday.
“We apologize for any delays in service, however, safety for our employees and customers is our number one priority,” the company said in a tweet Thursday.
North Carolina has experienced tornadoes and flooding, and even a waterspout off the coast of Emerald Isle. Peak impacts from Dorian are expected to come Thursday evening into Friday, according to The Weather Channel’s website.
