Janet Whitworth, sales associate with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s Asheville office, has been named president of The Rotary Club of Asheville. The induction ceremony will take place on July 1.

An Asheville native and active Rotarian for the past 10 years, Whitworth has served the community by packing meals, running blood drives and helping financially challenged high school seniors attain scholarships through the club. She also launched a local Rotaract club, bringing together young professionals under the age of 30 to take action through service.

Whitworth is the sixth woman president in the Asheville chapter’s 105-year history. The third-oldest Rotary Club in North Carolina, it currently has 155 members — 33% of whom are women.

“The trust in my ability to lead an organization this large is humbling, but it’s the icing on the cake of a long career of business and professional accomplishments,” said Whitworth. “My experience has taught me that when ordinary people come together with a desire to be of service, they can do extraordinary things.”

Whitworth is an award-winning REALTOR® who consistently ranks in the top 5% of Asheville area sales associates since 2005. She joined forces with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty in 2015.
