ESJ Capital Partners (ESJ), a full-service asset management firm based in Miami, announces its affiliate, Charter MC Mallard, LLC, has sold Mallard Creek STEM Charter School, a K-7 charter school in Charlotte. The affiliate sold the asset to Mallard Creek STEM Academy, LLC, an affiliate of the current school operator.
The operator’s affiliate acquired the asset for $21.2 million through tax-exempt bonds issued via BB&T Capital Markets. ESJ Capital Partners also provided a $272,000 charitable contribution to the school at the time of closing.

Developed in 2016 by ESJ Capital Partners, Mallard STEM Charter School is located at 9142 Browne Road. Offering capacity for approximately 1,100 students, the school provides a STEM-focused curriculum that begins in kindergarten.
Benefitting from a local partnership with Discovery Place Education Studio, students engage in a hands-on learning experience with state-of-the-art labs through high-impact science programs. Students also interact with reading and writing teachers trained by the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University, allowing them to improve their reading and writing at their own level and pace.
