The North Carolina practice of global architecture and design firm Perkins+Will announces two staff promotions to strengthen its leadership team. Laura Gwyn, a senior project manager and operations director for the practice, was promoted to associate principal, and project architect Juliane Hatfield was promoted to associate. Each year, the firm’s leadership program recognizes high performance that supports exceptional client service and contributions to the design profession.

Laura Gwyn AIA, MBA, LEED AP is a recognized leader in operations, healthcare design, and project delivery. She leads healthcare project teams from initial programming to project close-out, applying a comprehensive perspective achieved through her experience as an architect, owner’s representative, and contractor. “I love designing the ways we work together, both in the business of architecture and in leading projects,” she states. “I find it rewarding to work on projects that impact the health and well-being of people and communities.”

Laura’s responsibilities combine project management and firm practice over sight. Her company leadership and operations role centers on continually advancing the client experience and developing rising leaders in the Durham and Charlotte offices of Perkins+Will.A LEED Accredited Professional and registered architect, Laura isa member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, and the North Carolina Hospital Engineers Association.

Juliane Hatfield, AIA, LEED AP is an architect with more than ten years of experience a cross multiple sectors including healthcare,science and technology, workplace, and higher education. Her current client work includes hospital campus designs for leading North Carolina health systems.“Among the many things I love about architecture is the opportunity to integrate sustainability in creative and holistic ways,” Juliane said. “Our clients see the value of designing for the long-term viability of their buildings, and our team provides insight and research on all facets of sustainable design to help advance their commitment.”

Juliane is active in the North Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects(AIA) and is currently serving a term as the Young Architect Regional Director (YARD) for the South Atlantic Region of the AIA. A LEED Accredited Professional,she is a past director of AIA North Carolina Chapter and a recipient of the Presidential AIA Triangle Volunteer Award.
