Former executives of Innovate Biopharmaceuticals Inc., a Raleigh-based pharmaceutical development company, saw increased 2018 compensation according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.

Christopher Prior came to Innovate Bio in 2015, having previously served as CEO of clinical-stage bio pharmaceutical company, Phasebio Pharmaceuticals Inc., for six years. In February, he resigned as CEO of Innovate Bio.

His was the second departure from the company in the string of a few months, following the departure of the company’s chief medical officer who left in November of 2018.

Last year he received a total compensation of $605,000, earning $310,000 as part of the company’s non-equity incentive Plan.

In 2018 his yearly compensation did not include any company stock awards or bonus, which in 2017 made up the bulk of his $520,563 compensation.

Dr. June Almenoff joined Innovate Bio as the company’s chief operating officer in March 2018. Before joining the drug development company, she served as president and chief medical officer at Furiex Pharmaceuticals for four-year tenure.

Her employment at Innovate Bio was terminated in November of last year.

In 2018 her total compensation was $1.18 million, consisting of $627,681 in company stock awards and $320,000 in the form of a severance package to be paid in equal installments over a 12-month period.

Innovate Bio is a clinical stage biotechnology company specializing in development of inflammatory and autoimmune therapeutic drugs. It’s leading product, Larazotide acetate or INN-202, is currently entering into phase 3 clinical trials.

The company’s stock closed today at $1.90, dropping 14 cents.
