Boomerang Water LLC, a water bottling company, has raised $500,000 in equity, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Wednesday.

The $500,000 was raised by nine investors with the date of the first sale happening April 11. The offering has no more money remaining to be sold.

The filing did not disclose what the company plans to do with the money.

Clearwater Manufacturing, Inc., the parent company of Boomerang Water LLC, was created in 2007 to develop, manufacture and distribute a new micro water bottling system called boomerang water.

The Cornelius-based Boomerang Water was founded in order to design a machine that reduces the negative landfill contribution and high carbon dioxide emissions produced by the plastic bottled water industry.

Boomerang Water is a self-contained water filtration and bottling system that includes a machine, environmentally friendly bottles and filtered drinking water. To do this the company utilizes glass bottles instead of plastic.

The glass bottles use 95 percent less carbon dioxide per bottle than plastic bottles after the first use. They can be used again, which reduces waste and increases revenues.

The company was founded by Dan Cedrone and Colin Van Rooyen, who have over 50 years combined experience regarding materials engineering, machine design, CNC manufacturing and distribution logistics.

Companies relying on a Reg D exemption do not have to register their offering of securities with the SEC, but they must file what’s known as a Form D electronically with the SEC after they first sell their securities.
