Investors Title’s CEO Saw 2.3 Percent Increase in Total Compensation

The chief executive officer of Investors Title Co., a real estate insurance company, saw a 2.3 percent increase in total compensation for 2018, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday.

J. Allen Fine’s total compensation for the year totaled $1.25 million, up from $1.22 million in the company’s 2017 fiscal year.

All other compensation for Fine increased to $61,333 in 2018 from $60,095 in 2017. Expenses included in this total include Fine’s personal use of the company vehicle and his supplemental retirement cash payment in 2018.

Fine’s salary for 2018 was $422,900, up 4.4 percent from his base salary in 2017 of $405,250.

The CEO also received $800,000 in cash bonus throughout 2018, according to the filing which can be found here.

President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer James A. Fine Jr. received total compensation of $1.22 million during the 2018 fiscal year, up 5.2 percent from 2017. He also received an $800,000 cash bonus for 2018.

His base salary for 2018 is $360,000, up 4.7 percent from his base salary in 2017 of $343,933.

Investors Title is an insurance company based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with a regional office in Columbia, South Carolina.

The company writes and supports residential and commercial title insurance, and provides a range of related services to its industry partners. These services include 1031 like-kind exchanges and the coordination, underwriting and management of complex commercial transactions through sister companies.

The company reported fourth-quarter earnings for 2018 with a net income of $21.9 million, or $11.54 per diluted share, down 14.8 percent from $25.7 million, or $13.56 per diluted share, in the prior year.

The company’s annual shareholders meeting will be May 15 at 11 a.m. at The Siena Hotel located at 1505 E. Franklin St., in Chapel Hill.

The company’s shares are up 0.11 percent to $161.28 Tuesday morning.
