The Cook & Boardman Group LLC, a Winston-Salem commercial door distributer, announced Monday it had acquired A3 Communications Inc.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
A3 focuses on electronic security, including video surveillance and access control, enterprise networking, structured cabling and electrical services. It is based in Columbia, South Carolina, and has more than 1,300 customers in the Carolinas and Atlanta.
“We are excited to welcome A3’s 130-plus employees to the Cook & Boardman family of companies,” said Cook & Boardman CEO Darrin Anderson in a statement. “A3 is a well-regarded player in the highly attractive systems integration industry, with significant scale and a complementary footprint to C&B.”
A3 is Cook & Boardman’s second acquisition since being acquired by Littlejohn & Co. in October 2018. The Greenwich, Connecticut-based investment firm focuses on private equity and debt investments primarily in middle market companies.
“As the leading platform in the commercial door and hardware industry, C&B represents the ideal partner for our team, our clients and our partners to join forces with as we embark on our next phase of growth,” said A3 CEO Brian Thomas in a statement.
Thomas will stay on as president of A3 under Cook & Boardman’s leadership.
