Womble Bond Dickinson’s Medical and Scientific Solutions team has added experienced healthcare consultant Lori Baker as its Director of Healthcare Audit and Compliance.

Baker has over 20 years of experience guiding healthcare providers in issues relating to medical coding and documentation education, coding assessments, appeal assistance, and expert testimony that involve Medicare, Medicaid, and other government program and commercial managed care reimbursement. She has worked with physician clinics/organizations, health systems, long term acute care (LTAC) hospitals, home health agencies, acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and rehab facilities, as well as inpatient and outpatient psychiatric facilities.

At Womble Bond Dickinson Medical and Scientific Solutions, Baker will oversee a team of certified, experienced coders, auditors, nurses and physicians who have real-world experience applying and analyzing medical coding and documentation. The team provides proactive healthcare audits to ensure that clinical documentation and coding is accurate. The auditing process helps uncover issues before they become problems, and may uncover unclaimed revenue opportunities. In addition, the team of auditors has extensive experience with both repayment and recovery audits for all healthcare providers, including utilizing the OIG statistical protocol.

Baker comes to Womble Bond Dickinson from PYA, P.C. She holds a BS in Health Information Management from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Healthcare Auditor (CHCA-F), and holds Registered Health Information Management (RHIA) certification.
