Chaucer Creek Capital Raises $16.5M

Multifamily developer Chaucer Creek Capital LLC has raised a combined $16.5 million for use in commercial real estate, according to forms filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday.

Two separate LLCs bearing the name of existing luxury multifamily developments in Wilmington — CCC Headwaters at Autumn Hall LLC and CCC Mayfaire Flats LLC — issued $5.6 million and $10.9 million in equity, respectively.

Raleigh-based Chaucer Creek Capital was not immediately available for comment Tuesday.

Founded in 2009 by Billy McClatchey, Chaucer Creek Capital is a private real estate investment company based in Raleigh.

Before entering the real estate business, McClatchey founded and sold McClatchey Broadcasting Co., which owned and operated radio stations located across the Carolinas. Prior to that, he worked in the mergers and acquisition groups for Bowles Hollowell Conner & Co.where he advised on over $1 billion in transactions.

Chaucer Creek has developed and overhauled more than 30,000 multifamily apartment units in markets such as Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Winston Salem, Greensboro and Atlanta. Its other markets include Richmond, Williamsburg, Asheville, Charleston, Columbia, Savannah and Wilmington.
