Charlotte-based Mount Vernon Partners LLC has launched a new real estate fund focused on property investment in and around the Carolinas.

According to a release Wednesday, the fund — titled MVP Fund I — is an investment vehicle aimed at middle market projects within the Carolinas.

Opportunities include funding joint ventures, active or passive investments, urban infill development projects, income producing properties and historic building renovations.

“This new fund allows investors to participate in the rapid growth in the North and South Carolina regions,” said Cameron Glaws, managing partner at Mount Vernon Partners, “and be part of building robust economic sources for their communities while developing a more diversified and secure portfolio.”

Mount Vernon Partners targets a $100 million total capitalization for the fund, and will divide investors into two ownership classes — Class A and Class B.

Class A contributors will put forth $250,000 per share, while Class B investors will be any individuals contributing less than $250,000; the smallest partial units available for purchase are 10 percent of a Class A contribution, starting at $25,000.

Mount Vernon Partners specializes in acquiring and developing properties, while also utilizing tax credits to renovate existing properties.
