Urban League Young Professionals Annual Fundraiser

1/14/19

The Urban League of the Central Carolinas Young Professionals Auxiliary will be hosting their annual Winter Soirée fundraiser at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art on February 8, 2019 from 7:00 - 10:00 PM.

Over 100 guests attended the second annual fundraiser last year, which benefits the Urban League of the Central Carolinas. All proceeds are donated to the Urban League to offset the cost for people who participate in the work force development program. The Winter Soiree is not your typical fundraiser. It’s a great opportunity for young professionals to network with representatives from this year’s corporate sponsors and other young professionals in the Queen City.

“The Urban League of Center Carolinas is a change agent for the Charlotte region, and because of the Urban League there are hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals that can provide for their families in a significant way,” said Marvin Price, President of the Young Professionals Auxiliary.

The work force development program at the Urban League provides economic empowerment and educational opportunities for those in need of help. Programs include Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), Fiber Optics/Broadband, Microsoft Office and Customer Service, Highway Construction and Trades Academy, and Microsoft Office Specialist Authorized Testing Center. All of these programs are free of charge for students because of the Urban League.

Some of Charlottes biggest companies have supported the Winter Soirée in the past including NASCAR and GM Financial. Last year, the Winter Soirée raised over $15,000 for the cause. “This year we hope to raise a minimum of $20,000,” said Price.
