JBB Packaging to Open New Facility in Halifax County

JBB Packaging LLC will add a new plastic manufacturing facility in Halifax County, investing $11 million in the area, according to a release from the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

The new facility will create 50 jobs with an average salary of $40,400, the release stated.The average salary of Halifax County is $31,839.

Median household income in Halifax County is $32,549, according to 2016 census data.

JBB Packaging will inhabit a space formerly used for plastics manufacturing in Becker Industrial Park in Weldon, North Carolina. The facility’s new activities will include plastic recycling and the production of flexible packaging and garment bags.

“JBB Packaging is bringing quality, well-paying manufacturing jobs and a significant capital investment to Halifax County,” said Vernon Bryant, chairman of the Halifax County Board of Commissioners, in a statement. “I am proud of our community’s effort to maximize our business talent, resources, and collaborative spirit to support the location of JBB Packaging.”

JBB received a $150,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund to make the move to Weldon, conditional on the company reaching job creation and investment targets. The One N.C. Fund assists local governments in creating jobs and economic investments in their communities.

JBB is a Dutch plastic packaging company that specializes in products for “ornamental horticulture” such as plant sleeves and flower trolleys.
