Enforge LLC, an auto parts manufacturer based in Albemarle, North Carolina, is set to create 44 new jobs with a $44 million expansion in Stanly County.

The company is bringing a major steering linkage project to Albemarle that will involve steel forging, machining and assembly. This project will bring hot forging — a manufacturing process where hot metal is shaped by compressive forces — to Enforge’s Albemarle facility.

The One North Carolina Fund, which provides financial assistance so local governments can attract economic investment, promised Enforge a $90,000 grant based on performance.

The company receives no money upfront and is required to meet job creation and capital investment goals to receive the grant. Albemarle’s government must also match the investment for it to be given.

Salaries for the new jobs will vary by position but will average $32,812, slightly above Stanly County’s average wage of $32,604.

North Carolina Sen. Tom McInnis said the company’s expansion will benefit the county overall.

“Enforge is adding new jobs and new capabilities to their automotive manufacturing here in Albemarle,” McInnis said in a statement. “This expansion will provide more opportunity and will expand Stanly County’s manufacturing presence. I’m proud to welcome this success.”

Enforge is a subsidiary of Michigan-based Angstrom Automotive Group LLC. The company supplies steering and suspension parts, fabricated tubing assemblies and insulation products to companies such as GM, Ford and Honda.

Rajneesh Banga, Angstrom’s vice president of finance, said North Carolina was the company’s first choice for the expansion.

“Enforge is excited to expand its current business in Albemarle,” said Banga. “As Angstrom is experiencing significant growth, we selected Albemarle as our first preference to launch this business due to availability of a stable skilled workforce and the pro-business environment which North Carolina offers.”
