Valley Fine Foods recalled nearly 35,516 pounds of heat-treated, not fully cooked meat and poultry products, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service on Thursday.

The Forest City-based food company issued the recall after the problem — the possibility the meat was adulterated by the presence of spoilage organisms — was discovered by the establishment’s research and development department during routine internal testing on Oct. 4.

Government authorities were notified on Oct. 10.

The recalled products were shipped to retail locations in California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan and North Carolina.

The company recalled four products that were produced on various dates from Aug. 15, 2018 through Oct. 4, 2018, according to the government agency.

These products include refrigerated Simple Dishes’ chicken penne alfredo, chicken primavera, Italian sausage ziti and rigatoni with meatballs and a mushroom cream sauce.

Each product bears the number “P-22102B” or “M-22102B” inside the USDA mark of inspection, according to the announcement.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, according to the FSIS announcement.

The release can be found here.
