Heritage Home Group LLC will be laying off 115 employees in Guilford County as the company announced the permanent closure of its High Point headquarters — unless it can find a buyer for the operations.

Heritage Home notified the North Carolina Department of Commerce of the upcoming layoffs in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires companies to give a 60-day public notice of mass layoffs.

The 60-day period, which begins Oct. 2, is subject to change, according to the filing.

The High Point, North Carolina-based furniture company filed chapter 11 bankruptcy on July 29. Through a sale and auction process, Heritage Home is seeking buyers for its Guilford County facilities.

On Sept. 28, the court approved a bid from RHF Investments Inc., the parent company of Century Furniture and Hancock, to acquire assets of the Hickory Chair, Maitland Smith, Pearson, and La Barge furniture brands from Heritage Home.

There were no competing bids and the transaction is expected to close on or before Oct. 12.

On Aug. 28, Heritage Home announced that it would lay off 712 employees as the company was about to close its Lenoir upholstery and case goods facilities in Caldwell County.

“We deeply regret and understand the uncertainty this action will cause our valued employees and the community,” said Robert Albergotti, Heritage Home’s chief restructuring officer.

North Carolina has seen 9,649 employees laid off through WARN notices in 2018. North Carolina’s 2018 WARN summary can be found here.
