Durham-based Idea Fund Partners Raises Over $120,000

A Durham-based investment company has raised over $120,000 in two investment funds, according to two filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Idea Fund Partners, a company that primarily invests in startup companies, raised the money for its Co-Investment Fund 1. For one investment fund, the company raised $60,000. For the other, it raised $64,348. Both of the Form Ds were filed on Sept. 28.

Idea Fund Partners invests in early stage companies. The company has invested as little as $100,000 and as much as $750,000 in a round, according to the company’s website, and can invest up to $1.5 million over a company’s life.

Idea Fund Partners aims to help companies in software, tech-enabled services, materials technologies and medical devices and diagnostics.

Idea Fund Partners likes to invest in young technology companies with strong management and the potential to be a leader in the industry. With offices located in Durham and Orlando, Florida, the company typically invests in companies close to these locations.

Some of the company’s investments include Spiffy, CloudTags, Canopy and Switchboard.

John Cambier is currently the founding general partner at Idea Fund Partners. Cambier serves as director on the board of Antenna, CloudTags and Sarda Technologies. He is also an observer on the boards of Ceterus, Payzer and Physcient, according to the company’s website.
