Asheville-based HomeTrust Bancshares Names Hunter Westbrook COO

HomeTrust Bancshares Inc. promoted Hunter Westbrook, the chief banking officer of subsidiary HomeTrust Bank, to senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of both companies, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

As a part of his promotion, Westbrook’s salary will increase from $334,000 to $374,080 a year, with the opportunity of earning an incentive award of up to 40 percent of his base salary.

Westbrook will be in charge of the company’s credit administration and information technology departments and will assume the new position on Oct. 1.

Asheville-based, HomeTrust Bancshares has assets of $3.3 billion and is the holding company of HomeTrust Bank.

With 43 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, HomeTrust Bank is the second-largest community bank headquartered in North Carolina.

As chief banking officer for HomeTrust Bank, the position he has held since 2012, Westbrook was responsible for consumer and commercial banking as well as brokerage.

CEO Dana Stonestreet said Westbrook was selected for the new position because of his success as chief banking officer.

“For the last six years, Hunter and I have worked closely on transitioning HTB to a high performing regional community bank,” said Stonestreet in a statement. “During this time, the Bank has expanded into seven large metro markets across four states, re-invented and added lines of business, and recruited a significant level of high performing talent.”

Westbrook has almost three decades of experience in the banking industry.

Before joining HomeTrust Bank in 2012, Westbrook spent 20 years in a variety of roles at TCF Bank and its parent company TCF Financial Corp.. Most recently, Westbrook served as president and CEO of two community banks.

Westbrook graduated from West Virginia University in 1985 with a bachelor’s in accounting and business and received a master’s in business administration from the University of Minnesota in 1996.
