New Providers Based at Offices across Carolinas

OrthoCarolina has hired 10 new physicians to support the increasing needs of its patients and communities. With 160 physicians at more than 40 locations across the Carolinas, many OrthoCarolina providers are also trained in orthopedic subspecialties, offering unmatched access to orthopedic care across the region.

The new physicians and their subspecialties include:

• Brian K. Brighton, MD – Fellowship-trained in pediatrics, Dr. Brighton is based at OrthoCarolina Pediatrics.
• David Ciaccia, DO – Fellowship-trained in physiatry with a clinical focus on spine, Dr. Ciaccia is based in Gastonia.
• Michael Gart, MD – Dr. Gart completed his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery and is fellowship-trained in hand and upper extremity surgery. He is based at the OrthoCarolina Hand Center.
• Swaroop Gonchikar, MD – A musculoskeletal and interventional spine specialist, Dr. Gonchikar is based at the OrthoCarolina Spine Center.
• W. Bryan Jennings, DO – Fellowship-trained in sports medicine with clinical specialties in elbow, hip, knee, shoulder and sports medicine, Dr. Jennings is based in Winston-Salem.
• John McMurtry, MD – Fellowship-trained in hand with clinical specialties in hand and shoulder, Dr. McMurtry is based in Winston-Salem.
• Brian P. Scannell, MD – Fellowship-trained in pediatrics, Dr. Scannell is based at OrthoCarolina Pediatrics.
• Joshua Smith, MD – Fellowship-trained in hand, shoulder and elbow, Dr. Smith is based in Hickory.
• James S. Starman, MD – Fellowship-trained in sports medicine with clinical specialties in knee, shoulder/elbow and sports medicine, Dr. Starman is based in Winston-Salem and Kernersville.
• Benjamin Sutker, MD – Fellowship trained in hand with clinical specialties in elbow, hand and wrist, Dr. Sutker is based in Rock Hill.
