Dr. Marilyn Sheerer
Cape Fear CREW, the leading organization for women in commercial real estate in the Cape Fear region,welcomes Dr. Marilyn Sheerer, UNC Wilmington Provost and Vice Chancellor, on Friday, September 21st to address Empowered Women and their Continued Challenges. The program will be held at Pine Valley Country Club in Wilmington, NC from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Dr. Sheerer will speak to Cape Fear CREW members and guests about the importance for women to speak out in clear, consistent ways, using an impactful voice as well as thoughts on the multiple roles women balance every day. Dr. Sheerer joined UNCW in 2016, bringing more than 25 years of experience in higher education administration to the university, and is the highest-ranking woman on UNCW’s campus. She currently oversees all academic units of the university and serves as Chief Academic Officer. Prior to coming to UNCW, she was the provost of East Carolina University from 2007 until 2014. She also served as dean of the ECU College of Education, associate dean for faculty and program development, interim vice chancellor for university and advancement and interim vice chancellor for student life. Before serving at ECU, she was a department chair at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and Northern Illinois University. Dr. Sheerer holds a bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg State College in Pennsylvania, a master’s degree from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. from Ohio University.
