Coca-Cola Bottling Names David Katz as President and COO

Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated appointed David Katz as president and chief operating officer and Henry Flint as a vice chairman, effective Dec. 31.

Its board also approved to appoint Katz as the executive committee of the board, succeeding Flint, effective Dec. 31.

Flint will remain a member of the board and an officer of the company.

“We are very fortunate to have these two great leaders as a part of our senior leadership team,” said CEO J. Frank Harrison III in a statement. “This announcement is the result of a carefully planned succession process. The board and I have great confidence in Dave and his ability to lead our company in the coming years.”

Katz joined the company as senior vice president and assistant to the chairman and CEO in 2013. In the past five years, he has worked in various leadership roles. Before joining the company, he worked with Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. with increasing responsibilities from 1993 to 2010.

In 2011 he was senior vice president, Midwest Region with the newly-created Coca-Cola Refreshments. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Flint joined the company in 2005 as executive vice president and served on the board since April 2007. From 2007 to 2012 he served as vice chairman and as president and COO since August 2012.

Charlotte-based Coca-Cola Bottling is the country’s largest independent Coca-Cola bottler and operates in 14 states and the District of Columbia. The company sells and delivers beverages for the company and other partner companies in more than 200 brands and flavors to 65 million consumers.

It has operated for more than 115 years.

The company’s stock Thursday evening was trading at $169.51, down 1.29 percent.
