Lisa Rushton has joined Womble Bond Dickinson’s Raleigh office as a Partner.

A Chambers USA ranked, veteran environmental transactions lawyer, Rushton guides corporate clients, including multinational and global corporations, real estate developers, financial institutions, energy developers and providers and investment funds through environmental regulatory challenges in complex commercial transactions. She assists buyers, sellers, lenders, borrowers, debtors, landlords and tenants in understanding and apportioning environmental liabilities and drafting and negotiating contractual provisions covering environmental aspects of business and real estate transactions and proceedings.

Rushton oversees the investigation and remediation of site conditions; she manages environmental due diligence for prospective acquisitions, divestments and investments; she counsels clients on compliance obligations and the implementation of environmental management systems; and she assists in the defense of claims relating to environmental liabilities and allegations of non-compliance. Rushton has substantial experience with international project development and brownfield issues and in matters relating air and water pollution, hazardous and solid waste management/cleanup, toxic substance control laws.

Her specific experience includes representing clients in such industries as:

  • Energy generation and sale
  • Waste management
  • Real estate development
  • Telecom
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Chemicals
  • Adhesives and coating manufacturing
  • Pulp and paper manufacturing
  • Aluminum and steel mills, and
  • Airport management.


Rushton will relocate to the firm’s Raleigh office from Washington, D.C.
