Durham-based Antiperspirant Lotion Company Raises $1.9 Million

Clutch Inc., parent company of Carpe Lotion, has raised $1.9 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The money was raised by 43 investors in the form of equity.

The Durham-based company produces Carpe antiperspirant lotion as an over-the-counter daily treatment for hands and feet.

Kasper Kubica and David Spratte, two University of North Carolina and Duke University graduates, founded the company in 2014.

The crystallized active ingredient in Carpe serves as a sweatgland-level barrier to sweat, preventing it from reaching the surface.

Companies relying on a Reg D exemption do not have to register their offering of securities with the SEC, but they must file what’s known as a Form D electronically with the SEC after they first sell their securities.
